Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till noon on Friday as INDIA bloc MPs continued protests over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar.

During Question Hour in the Lok Sabha, Speaker Om Birla repeatedly urged members to allow the House to function, but as Opposition protests persisted, he adjourned proceedings, remarking, “You are responsible for regularly disrupting House proceedings.”

In the Rajya Sabha, Deputy Chairman Harivansh noted that disruptions have already cost the House 56 hours and 49 minutes of working time this session. Despite his appeal, protests forced the adjournment there as well.

Earlier in the day, INDIA bloc MPs staged a demonstration in the Parliament premises, holding banners reading “SIR: Silent Invisible Rigging” and raising slogans alleging “vote theft.” The Opposition has been pressing the issue since the start of the Monsoon Session.

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra questioned why the Election Commission of India (ECI) was not providing the voter list. She accused the EC of inaction, saying, “If there is an intentional mistake, you should investigate it. Removing nearly 1 lakh voters can clearly decide who wins.”

Meanwhile, the ECI reiterated on Friday that no political party has submitted any claim or objection regarding the draft rolls published on August 1, though individual voters have done so. It has been more than a week since the Commission invited corrections to the draft list.
